3 weeks 9 hours and 6 minutes

since Collin was given his bone marrow transplant - but who is counting? Apparently everyone around here. One nurse explained that they knew how tough their shift would be by the number of days from transplant for their assigned patient. Everything is referred to by the day and each morning the staff changes it on Collin's dry erase board. You couldn't forget what day it is if you wanted to.
Collin had a blip up in his numbers. His white blood cells (WBC) got to .5 so they were able to differentiate the ANC this morning and it came in at .3-- His ANC number needs to be at .5 to meet the engraftment mark. These numbers could tease us so we aren't banking on anything right now, but we are very happy to see something that starts to look like his new bone marrow might have started working.
Collin had one of his antibiotics pulled off of his IV schedule today since he hasn't had a fever during the last 3 weeks and they want to make sure he is fever free without any help from antibiotics. The anti-viral and anti-fungal continue as well as the other concoction of medications that he will go home with when the time comes.

Exciting that SOME thing is happening especially being taken off the anti biotic to see if he can stay fever free! I'm thinking of the movie Meet the Robinsons where they say "keep moving forward!"
